General Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Finance for Operations and Technology serves as the senior finance leader responsible for financial consulting to senior management for the technology solutions and operations functions. This positions influences management decisions by providing in-depth financial consultation, analysis, forecasts and recommendations to be used for critical financial decisions. This individual will be used as a financial expert on cross-functional teams for key company and/or functional initiatives and projects.

This role directs a team of finance professionals to provide day-to-day and strategic financial support for the assigned business functions. This includes but is not limited to the functions annual planning, budgeting and forecasting process, ownership of the function’s reporting and analysis needs, due diligence on new initiatives and business opportunities, the business review of financial and operating performance. The function also includes a team of business process and project professionals that lead and drive process improvement and standardization and provide subject matter expertise on corporate projects affecting the Operations function.

This individual is a member of the functional matrix management team supporting the EVP, Global Operations and Technology but directly reports into the SVP, Controller within the company’s corporate finance and accounting group.

- Provide decision-making support and advice to business partners, identify operational and product trends and use knowledge to aid in driving company revenue and profit.

- Lead the development of the monthly and annual plans (strategic plans, operating plans and business forecasts) to assist the functional management team in making decisions that ensure growth and align with the company’s strategy. Drive annual budgeting with the appropriate amount of analysis and detail to explain variances and strategic direction.

- Set and maintain annual planning calendar supported by detailed milestone schedules driven by corporate requirements; hold kick-off meetings, provide support and ensure schedules are met.

- Deliver accurate and complete forecast information with reports reflecting trends, risks, and challenges for the current business outlook. Identify potential business issues and develop contingency plans to effectively mitigate risks.

- Define and implement improved ad hoc or ongoing management reporting which represents the cost dynamics of the company operations and contributes to the assessment of product, agent, channel, or project ROI / profitability.

- Provide support in identifying areas to become more efficient and reduce operational costs. For example, drive improved activity based costing or other costing methods to help analyze cost dynamics.

- Prepare comprehensive financial and general business presentations and initiatives. Responsible for communicating monthly financial results with the entire finance leadership team.

- Conduct analysis and due diligence on new initiatives and business opportunities for the assigned functions.

- Identify and recommend opportunities for improved profitability. Challenge business and financial assumptions to ensure reliability.

- Establish the finance function as business partner and critical resource to ensure business and financial success.

- Create effective benchmarks to measure key business drivers. Keep abreast of industry trends, benchmarks and best practices to assist in improving services and reducing costs.

- Partner with other functional financial leaders to ensure consistency in approach to financial planning & analysis across all functions.

- Responsible for financial integrity of the function’s financial reporting internal controls and financial analysis. Establish, maintain and document appropriate internal controls to support organizational goals and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

- Attract, develop, mentor and retain talent base. Develop performance measurements and provide continuous feedback with each direct reports. Conduct regular meetings to discuss career planning and development

Skills and Experience Required:

- Education: BA/BS in related field required; MBA strongly preferred.

- Experience: 15+ years experience in finance or FP&A functions. A global technology or financial services company experience strongly preferred. Specifically looking for strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, capital budget and expense management, modeling, systems, and reporting.

- Proven people management capability, preferably with experience in leading a team across different geographies. This includes responsibility for hiring, training, development, providing feedback and succession planning.

- Experience in a shared service area a plus. In particular, defining and building frameworks for financial transparency, chargeback reporting, SLAs, or performance measurement of those shared services.

- Management accounting experience highly desired. For instance, experience with transfer pricing, activity-based costing or other costing methods, capital allocation and analysis, or profitability reporting.

- Track record of partnering with and influencing executives on strategy and operations. Articulates with conviction, points of view and ideas

- Experience building advanced financial models (pricing, market elasticity, market analyses, valuation, etc) and using these models to drive and improve business results

- Prefer some experience in consulting or project-based roles with responsibility for defining new solutions, setting and meeting timelines, and leading teams through change.

- Experience in operations, technology, or other business roles a plus.

- Clear, concise oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels within an organization.

- Must possess strong quantitative and analytical skills with ability to adapt skills to a wide variety of changing analytical situations

- Must have a strong desire to succeed in a very dynamic environment

- Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvement to business planning, forecasting and management reporting activities.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is a must – Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Essbase and Oracle financial systems is highly desirable

- Excellent ability to interpret financial results and business indicators to identify trends and opportunities and to understand the cause and effect of the environmental factors that impact the business and its financial results.

- Ability to handle stressful situations with diplomacy and tact and ability to manage dialog effectively and in a manner that moves things forward.

- Ability to delegate work assignments, empower others and gives authority to work independently, set expectations and monitor delegated activities.

- Skillful at supporting cross-functional cooperation and building strong working relationships between finance and business unit/operating teams.

- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business and travel requirements.
