Summary

Description

The Senior Manager position in Finance and Planning will provide operational leadership and strategic level finance management and oversight to Alexions Commercial-North American organizations. Candidate will be responsible for driving key finance processes among Marketing, Sales and Operations departments including but not limited to monthly close, revenue and expense forecasting as well as budgeting and multi year strategic plans. In addition, position will be looked to help drive quarter end business reviews, manage operational risk management process and to partner with key business leaders to optimize and investments in support of business expansion.

Alexion is seeking a leader with solid experience in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting with experience in building, leading and advising in multi-disciplines resource management. We are seeking an individual with a solid record of contributions leading to improved financial performance, heightened productivity and enhanced internal controls.

This role will require interactions throughout the Alexion organization including the CFO, Chief Accounting Officer, SVP and Head of Commercial Americas, Regional and Country Managers as well as senior leadership in the Commercial-Americas Marketing, Sales and Operations departments. This position will report to the head of Finance and Planning.

Key responsibilities include the following:

Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting

  • Lead both long- and short- range planning supporting Commercial – North Americas.
  • Work globally with the functional leaders to create a multi year plan based on definition of long-range goals.
  • Lead the yearly budgeting process starting with setting goals and long-range strategic plan, work with individual regions and provide guidance, work with functional areas to understand and meet their financial needs to meet the long range goal.
  • Forecast and prepare full P&L by legal entity to ensure appropriate tax and statutory reporting.
  • Recommend and lead cost saving initiatives.
  • Financial partner to all functional area heads in negotiating large contracts.
  • Assist leadership in building the quarterly reports for the ELT and the board.
  • Assist Senior Director/CFO in building the quarterly reports for the board. The individual will be responsible for coordinating all presentations and ensuring that they are aligned to the objectives of the company.

Reporting

  • Key process contributor to global budget and variance reporting system.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting of financial key performance indicators encompassing full P&L for countries and regions
  • Analyze financial results by country and functional area, acting as an advisor to Functional Heads, Finance Senior Director, and CFO and on actions to be taken. The individual is responsible for ensuring that quarterly results correctly forecasted and all risks and opportunities are identified and discussed periodically.

Reporting

  • Key process contributor to global budget and variance reporting system.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting of financial key performance indicators.
  • Analyze financial results by country and functional area, acting as an advisor to CFO and Finance Leadership on actions to be taken. The individual is responsible for ensuring that quarterly results correctly forecasted and all risks and opportunities are identified and discussed periodically.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years relevant industry experience
  • Approximately 10-20% travel
  • MBA required, CPA a plus
  • Strong financial analysis and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work with other members of the finance team and across the organization
  • Experience with SAP a strong preference
