The Finance Specialist is responsible for moderate to complex level accounting, reporting, analysis or audit activities to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial results for internal and external purposes. Associates in this position will collect, process, analyze, reconcile, report or audit financial data and participate in the preparation of financial and management reports for use by senior level managers.

General Responsibilities:

  • Record, classify, summarize or audit financial transactions and data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and/or domestic tax code/law
  • Collect and analyze moderate to complex financial data; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance, financial trends and/or to project a financial probability
  • Assist in development of financial reports for forecasting, budgeting, trending, results or audit analysis
  • Interpret financial transactions and data for users who must make business decisions
  • Apply corporate financial policies/procedures/controls, government legislation, and accounting theory
  • Apply working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verify documents for completeness and legislative compliance
  • Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases, etc. to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports
  • Participate on special project teams as requested

Formal Education & Certification

Knowledge & Experience

  • 1-3 years accounting experience required
  • Up to 3 years of finance experience working in a financial analyst or staff accountant role preferred
  • Strong business acumen, e.g. ability to interpret and apply financial data/information to business decisions required
  • Must be proficient in applying GAAP, accounting policies, processes, procedures and controls and/or domestic tax code/law
  • Payroll experience is preferred
  • Escheatment is a plus

Technical Skill

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented, organized and capable of prioritizing workload to complete multiple tasks and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Work Conditions

  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines.
  • Frequent computer use at workstation up to 2 hours at a time or for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Access information using a computer and related components and peripherals.
  • Participation in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Occasional travel may be required
