Responsible for processing of applications for the Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF) and the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank (PUST) Programs up to the time of approval (Board or delegated authority) in accordance with DEP programs.
Reviews HDSRF and PUST grant applications for eligibility under program guidelines and prepares project summaries for Board or delegated authority approval, in a timely manner, which includes:
- Evaluates application package to ensure necessary documents are included, and obtains missing documents;
- Enters projects into LMS system and tracks status of project in spreadsheet;
- Financial analysis of UST applicants by evaluating and verifying business and personal financial statements;
- Communicates with customer throughout process, and manages expectations;
- Prepares project summary with recommendation for approval or disapproval, which is reviewed and signed by Director;
- Attends NJEDA Board Meetings and responds to all questions regarding DEP grants.
Acts as liaison with DEP for processing of grant approvals; participates in meetings with DEP and other EDA departments.
Responds to general inquiries, both internal and external, as they relate to the HDSRF and PUST Programs, liaising with Project Officers or DAG as appropriate.
Maintains a thorough, current knowledge of the HDSRF and PUST regulations and legislation.
Evaluates workflow processes in processing of HDSRF and PUST applications to identify and recommend changes to improve efficiencies for customers and staff.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing
- Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks, work independently, multi-task, and function effectively under pressure
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professional and EDA staff.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret the HDSRF and PUST Statutes and regulations
- Collaboration with team members
- Must possess advanced Microsoft Office suite and database skills and have the ability to learn new software programs.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Associates Degree in Business, Accounting, Economic Development or related field and/or equivalent professional experience
- Three to five years experience
