The City of Waynesboro is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of
Finance. Reports to the Director of Budget and Finance. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with oversight and maintenance of all general accounting records to include the general ledger, reviewing financial transactions for compliance, coordinating and providing material for the annual external audit, serving as primary contact for external auditors, preparing reconciliation schedules and adjusting entries in accounts payable/ receivable, payroll, debt service, and fixed assets, serving on various regional committees and providing financial support and assistants to commissions and boards, assisting with policy development and supervision of staff. Successful applicant will possess effective communication and organization skills, the abilities to work independently and as part of a team. Bachelors Degree in accounting or related field required. Substantial professional accounting experience with supervision of staff required. Local government finance or accounting experience preferred. Driver’s license required.
