Department Description:

The
department is responsible for accurately reporting artist financial data on a
timely basis as it pertains to Royalties.
This enables senior management to make informed decisions based on the
data/information received.

High Level Job Description:

Royalties
related financial record keeping, recording, analysis and reconciliations to
the general ledger
, corporate consolidation system and audited financial statements.

Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:



  • Reconcile various reports and
    schedules during month-end close
  • Prepare journal entries and vouchers
    to general ledger and royalty subsystems
  • Maintain the TV advertising
    expense process and database
  • Assist with Artist
    capitalization, marketing recovery and exposure analyses
  • Assist with royalty expense
    analysis (artist, copyright and licensing)
  • Reconcile unapplied accruals
    and prepare progress reports quarterly
  • Assist with preparation of
    royalty cash flow projections and variance analyses
  • Coordinate with Income Tracking
    department to ensure all income is booked timely and accurately
  • Assist with all royalty payable
    reconciliations, digital royalties processing, royalty accruals and income
    allocation
  • Assist with various analyses
    for Label Business and Legal Affairs including, coordinate rate
    information for artist P&L, breakeven analysis, recoupment analysis
    and projections
  • Maintain department files and
    monthly close binder
  • Compile Quarterly Payable and
    SOX binders
  • Develop and maintain
    relationship with label finance staff and provide service in line with
    senior management’s expectations.
  • Prepare journal entries and
    postings to general ledger and royalty subsystems
  • Assist with preparation of
    royalty cash flow projections and variance analyses
  • Coordinate with rate
    administrators to prepare royalty expense budgets and forecasts
  • Support shared service
    accounting on all royalty payable reconciliations, digital royalties processing,
    royalty accruals and income allocation
  • Assist with various analyses
    for label Business and Legal Affairs including, coordinate rate
    information for artist P&L, breakeven analysis, recoupment analysis
    and projections
  • Assist in the development and
    training of the Royalty Finance Analyst
  • Develop and maintain
    relationship with label finance staff and provide service in line with
    senior management’s expectations
  • Assist and coordinate work flow
    changes resulting from various systems conversion
  • Ad hoc projects as defined by
    management

Special Requirements/Preferences:

  • Proficient in Excel (Advanced
    Excel Skills), Word, PowerPoint

Education Required:

  • B.S.
    or B.A. in accounting (1+ accounting years experience) Royalty accounting
    experience preferable, CPA preferred
